Methods of Decoration

Imprinting Methods:

  • Pad Print – Like a rubber stamp – generally used on “hard goods” – items with a hard surface.
  • Screen Print – A screen is prepared, and then ink is applied with a squeegee. T-shirts, caps, duffel bags, and some “hard goods” are screen-printed.

Deboss:

  • A metal die is prepared with a logo and it is used to stamp a decoration into a leather or vinyl product.
  • Hot stamping is a similar process but with heat also applied to the die.

Etching:

  • Laser etching “burns” your logo into wood, steel, or crystal.
  • Acid etching is sometimes used on crystal.
  • Sand Blast etching is also used on crystal.

Engraving:

  • Machine engraving into metal is similar to what you see on jewelry.

Embroidery:

  • The process was developed to create a decoration on fabric materials: caps, jackets, shirts, totes, duffel bags, etc.
  • An embroidery tape is created which tells the embroidery machinery where to sew the various threads that will make up the decorations.
  • Embroidery thread comes in a wide range of colors from companies like Sylko or Madieros
  • Caution: Many variables can affect the quality of the embroidery decoration. Stability of the fabric, the complexity of the logo, size of logo, placement on the garment, etc.

Art Requirements:

  • The quality of your imprint depends upon the quality of artwork supplied to us!
  • For Screen-printing, Pad Printing, Debossing, Etching, Engraving, and Embroidery, all artwork must be sent in as CAMERA READY vector art. Vector art is a type of graphic that uses mathematical algorithms, allowing the image to be scaled or modified without loss of image quality or resolution. These images are easy to resize or rescale and result in a better quality graphic. They are produced in programs such as Adobe Illustrator.
  • Adobe Illustrator (AI) files, vector format with all text converted to outlines. Please save as .eps or native .ai files.
  • If imprinted in Full Color Process, Adobe Photoshop type images (raster graphics like jpg, tiff, etc.) are acceptable. The files must be at least 300 dpi resolution.
